BIOGRAPHY

Leslyn Lewis has always believed in Canada. Raised by a family that left everything behind to come to Canada because they thought it was the best place to pursue freedom and opportunity, she has spent her entire life proving them right.

From her first inkling to stand up for justice and practice law, to her successful career on Bay Street and then successfully starting her own while completing her Ph.D. in international law and teaching law at Osgoode Hall Law School; Leslyn demonstrated throughout her life that Canada was the best country in the world where hard work and honesty can be rewarded.

Her understanding of what it takes to succeed in Canada comes from first-hand experience. Like many entrepreneurs, Leslyn didn’t draw a salary while trying to get her new business off the ground. Watching her business grow and succeed gave her a passion to help build an economy where small and medium business owners would have every chance to thrive and succeed.

Her desire to enter politics grew out of a passion to see the next generation inherit an even better country than the one that has given her so much. The COVID-19 crisis encouraged her to fight harder than ever for the unity, compassion and belief that built the nation she loves.

Leslyn exploded onto the national political scene when she ran for the Leadership of the Conservative party in 2020. Despite having no pre-established political network, and coming from relative obscurity, her vision of a strong, united and prosperous nation resonated with Canadians right across the country.

She finished a surprising third place in the race, shocking pundits by winning the popular vote ahead of eventual winner Erin O’Toole and party co-founder Peter Mackay.

Leslyn Lewis graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Toronto, Trinity College graduating Magna Cum Laude, a Master’s in Environmental Studies from York University, with a Concentration in Business and Environment from the Schulich School of Business and a Juris Doctorate from Osgoode Hall Law School and a PhD in Law from Osgoode Hall Law School.

She and her family are proud residents of the town of Dunnville, where she serves her community as the Member of Parliament for Haldimand-Norfolk.
