BIOGRAPHY

Elected as the Member of Parliament for Kildonan—St. Paul in 2019, and successfully re-elected in 2021, Raquel has proven to be a hard-working, dedicated and fearless advocate for her community. Born and raised in Beausejour, Manitoba, to four generations of Canadian farmers and small business owners, and educated at McGill University in Montreal, Raquel has a unique perspective on the different dynamics of rural, urban, eastern and western Canada. Raquel speaks French and is a passionate bridge-builder who relentlessly advocates for thoughtful, collaborative solutions that work for all Canadians.

Raquel has served in numerous critic roles during her time in Parliament, most recently as the Shadow Minister for Public Safety. Raquel has served on four House of Commons Committees addressing issues affecting women, immigration, and social development, and is currently vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security.
